The mission: to bring you the best of music I like, both old and new, classic and 21st century soul, funk, contemporary jazz, and more - each week will be an exciting musical journey, I promise.
Bruce Nazarian, "The Digital Guy" has worn many hats during his long career - Producer, Studio Musician, Recording Artist, Grammy nominee, and is a long-time veteran of the music scene. The newest hat he wears is as host of his new music radio show, and he brings all of his unique music experience to The Digital Guy show on Solar Radio.
To say he loves the music is a given. But his insight into the process of being an artist, a producer, a label executive, and even a promo guy helps bring a new perspective to the music - especially as many of the artists he plays on the shows are his personal friends!
During his many years as a studio musician, he shared studios and sessions with many of the legendary names in Motown music history: Funk Brothers guitarists Robert White, Eddie Willis, and Dennis Coffey, keyboardists Earl Van Dyke, Ivy Joe Hunter, drummers Richard "Pistol" Allen, Uriel Jones, bass players Bob Babbit, Bootsy Collins and Tony Newton, and percussionists like Jack Ashford, Jack Brokensha and Bongo Eddie Brown. Special memories include great sessions with super-arranger David van de Pitte.
Bruce has worked with many producers as varied as Don Was, Don Davis, Mike Theodore, George Clinton, and many many superb engineers all of whom helped craft his approach to engineering and producing. A truly priceless apprenticeship... all of which became part of The Digital Guy's approach to music making.
The new Digital Guy Radio Show is an opportunity for Bruce to provide an "insider's look" at the music, from someone who has been there making it for decades! In addition to contemporary and classic tracks, the show also includes The Funky Corner, a weekly flashback track, "Behind The music" - an interview segment with a noted artist, and info segments on the Motown (Detroit) Music Scene and a weekly new music report from Denis Poole of SmoothJazzTherapy.com.
