25 years of It’s Commonly Jazz – Expect Nothing Less than the Best
Thursdays in August in Cincinnati for the past 25 years have been, and continue to be one of thebest nights to enjoyfree Jazz with folks who really like and appreciate the music. It's Commonly Jazz will kick off its 25th year of summer concert series at theSeasongood Pavilion in Eden Park. It's always been a progressive event that brings some of the most talented local as well as national artists to the stage.
This year It’s Commonly Jazz is pleased to present 8/5 William Menefield Trio, 8/12 Tia Fuller Quartet, 8/17 Derrick Gardner & the Jazz Prophets, 8/26 Jada featuring Mike Wade, Marc Fields, Art Gore, Mike Sharf, John Atkins and Dan Karlsberg.
In the past three years, the event has taken on a sustainable approach to how it's promoted. Car pooling and riding the Metro from Downtown Cincinnati's Government Square next to Fountain Square (leave your car parked after work and ride the Metro Route #1 which stops directly in front of Seasongood Pavilion) is encouraged. Programs are printed on recyclable paper with dual uses for other summer venues and discounts, and T-shirts are printed on organic material with a soy base ink. The sticks are off the fans(save the trees) and water bottles are available to refill and use as drink containers each week. During the intermission patronsnotonlyenjoy the chance of winning sustainable prizes but also learn ways to be green in how they live each day.
So if you like Jazz, being and supporting sustainable ways to live, want to enjoy some outdoor events with folks who have been doing something that they claim a riteof summer for 25 years, then save Thursdays in August from 6 to 8 pm andcome to Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park for one of the best free Summer Jazz Concert series in Cincinnati.
Jazz Alive, a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep Jazz Alive, is the co-presenter of It’s Commonly Jazz which is presented by Fifth Third Bank (Title Sponsor) and Cintas is the Contributing Musical Sponsor.
